Home Office - Office Chairs

Average daily use should not exceed 4 hours. These chairs are ideal in the home office or for casual/part-time employees in the commercial workplace. Office chairs are generally fitted with a straightforward operating mechanism. The backrest is either fixed or adjustable through a permanent-contact mechanism. In the case of a contact mechanism, the pressure of the backrest is adjustable to the user's weight through a pre-loaded spring. The premium models in this category are equipped with a lever-locking mechanism; this allows the user to comfortably secure the inclination of the seat and backrest. Fixed arm rests are also a standard feature of the Home Office category. The seat cover usually comprises abrasion-resistant, flat-woven synthetic fabric or mesh. The base of economical chairs is made of durable nylon synthetics, whilst premium models are fitted with a chome-plated steel base.

Gute Home Office Stühle sind ergonomisch

Good home office chairs are ergonomic
When you sit for long periods of time, it is easy to become tense. This is especially true if you are busy working and neglecting your posture. High-quality and ergonomic home office chairs help you maintain a healthy sitting position, even when you're not thinking about it. The best home office chairs have one thing in common: they offer a wide range of adjustment options to suit your exact needs. We would like to explain to you what is important.

These are the features you should look for when buying a home office chair

Seat surface

● The seat should be large enough to allow dynamic sitting.
● The seat should be at least 43cm wide and 38cm deep. Larger chairs are always recommended as long as there is about a hand's width of clearance to the back of your knees when sitting, while you can still lean back comfortably.
● An infinitely adjustable seat height is a must.

● The backrest should definitely have a tilt function
● The mechanism should be able to be adjusted to your weight
● There should be a so-called "lumbar support" near the hips.
● The lumbar support should be adjustable in height and depth.

● A height adjustment is mandatory.
● A tilt adjustment is highly recommended.

● The padding should be made of non-slip and breathable materials.
● The cover should neither be particularly hard nor particularly soft. A medium level favours the distribution of pressure on your legs and thus healthy blood circulation.
● The front edge of the seat should be rounded.

Armrests help to relieve the strain on shoulders and arms and are advisable in almost all cases. If you know from your own experience that you can get along without them for a long time without any problems, you can leave them out in favour of greater freedom of movement. If you are unsure, we recommend a model with armrests.
● Once again, height adjustment is a must.
● The width should also be adjustable.
● An angle adjustment is highly recommended.
● A folding function is desirable but not mandatory.

Home office office chairs
● When you move, the position of the seat, backrest and armrests should complement each other, this is called a "synchronous mechanism".
● The chair should be able to rotate full 360 degrees freely.
● Ideally, the seat should use a 3D mechanism, i.e. it can be tilted slightly in all directions.
● A reclining function is practical if you spend a lot of time at your workstation. It may seem superfluous at first glance, but it offers a great bonus of comfort that you will never want to miss again.

The best ergonomic chairs fulfill all of these criteria and optimally help to proactively reduce back pain and tension in your back and neck area. They enable long-lasting and comfortable sitting, which has a positive effect on your productivity. Home office desk chair with or without castors?

This question is easily answered. In order to sit healthily, it is important to move frequently. Thus, it is always advisable to choose a home office chair with castors to support your activity.

The choice of castors depends on your floor. Soft floors like carpets need "soft floor castors". They tend to be hard in order to roll better on the soft ground. For hard floors like parquet, it's the other way around. Then you need "hard floor castors". They are rubberised and particularly soft. This reduces rolling noise and they are less likely to leave scratches on sensitive surfaces.
